Shell Companies in Egypt are wholly owned by the Royal Dutch/ Shell Group of Companies. Active in Egypt since 1911. Since the mid 1970s, Shell Chemicals Overseas - SCS(O) - a representative office representing Shell International Trading Company (SITCO), Shell Chemicals International Trading Company (SCITCO) and Shell International Chemical Company Limited (SICC) - has handled Shell downstream businesses in Egypt regarding chemicals, lubricants and additives. In May 1990, Shell Marketing Egypt (SME) was registered with the objective of handling all downstream oil operations including retail, lubricants, aviation, and bunkers. Shell Marketing Egypt (SME) has successfully obtained ISO 9002 (Quality) and ISO 14001 (Environment) Certificates. This has enabled them to be regarded as the first Shell OP among the African continent of having both at the same time. By 2005, SME had reached a Retail network of 74 Shell service stations throughout Egypt.
Shell companies in Egypt today spans Upstream Oil and Gas Exploration and Downstream marketing services. In the upstream, most of their operations are located in the Western Desert. In this heartland, our business portfolio includes stakes in the following concessions: Badr El Din, Obaiyed, North East Abu El Gharadig and West Sitra. In the Nile Delta we have North West Damietta and, in the ultra deep water, North East Mediterranean. In the downstream, Shell Marketing Egypt (SME) aims at meeting customer needs by delivering high quality service and products through our retail sites, commercial lubricants and bunkering operations.
