 ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC, the leading Integrated Energy Solution Provider in the Middle East and Africa, announces the signing of a € 2 billion contract in a Consortium with SIEMENS AG for the Government of EGYPT to build a new combined cycle power plant in Beni Suef on EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) basis, using the most advanced Siemens H-class gas turbines. ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC'S portion of the contract is EUR 785 million in addition to the site preparation works on a re-measured basis.
The gas-fired combined cycle power project is located 150 km south of Cairo and shall start producing energy by Summer 2017, with final project completion expected within 38 months from the financial closure. The 4,800MW power plant will be built in four modules, each consisting of two H-class gas turbines, two heat recovery steam generators, one steam turbine, and three generators. Siemens H Class technology is matching Egypt's requirements, combining high output with record-breaking levels of efficiency.
ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC's scope of work includes engineering, procurement and installation of balance of plant in addition to the erection and installation of the SIEMENS turbines. In addition, ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC will be responsible for the site preparation, levelling and the civil, construction and site utilities for the project.
