AMOC New Petrochemical Projects in Action

On May 31, 2003, Dr. Atef Ebeid, Egypt Prime Minister accompanied with Eng. Sameh Fahmy, Egypt Minister of Petroleum inaugurated Alexandria Mineral Oil Company (AMOC) new petrochemical projects. AMOC projects include two major complexes producing mineral oil and heavy fuel oil with a total investment of LE1.9 billion and annual sales of LE1.3 billion.

1- AMOC Oil Processing Complex
AMOC oil processing complex is considered as one of the largest petrochemical projects in Egypt with a total investment of LE 1135 million and annual sales of LE 270 million.

110 thousand ton/year of mineral oils
170 thousand ton/year of engine oils
45 thousand ton/year of slack and paraffin waxes
102 thousand ton/year of aromatic extraction

Production Units of The Oil Processing Complex
Aromatic extraction unit with a capacity of 259,000 ton/year
Waxes separation unit with a capacity of 157,000 ton/year
Oil treatment unit with a capacity of 112,000 ton/year
Hydrogen treatment paraffin waxes unit with a capacity of 27,000 ton/year
Hydrogen production unit with a capacity of 1500 m3/hour
Paraffin waxes packaging unit with a capacity of 27,000 ton/year
Mixing and packing oil unit with a capacity of 100,000 ton/year

Agreements and Exportation
Sales agreement with EGPC to supply 5,000 Ton/year of lubricant oils with total value of $1.4 million.
Sales agreement with Shell to supply 5,000 ton/year of oils with total value of $1.4 million.
Sales agreement with NIMEX of Germany to supply 60,000 ton/year of oils with total value of $16.2 million.

2- AMOC heavy fuel oil complex
The total investment of AMOC heavy fuel oil complex is LE 765 million and the annual sales are LE 1100 million.

98.000 ton/year of naphtha with a total value of $21 million
400.000 ton/year of heavy fuel oil with a total value of $77 million

Wax elimination by using catalyst unit with a capacity of 600,000 ton/year

Acidic water treatment unit with a capacity of 200,000 ton/year
Acidic gases treatment and sulfur recycle unit with a capacity of 4,000 ton/year
Hydrogen purification unit with a capacity of 27,000 cubic meter/hour
